Sara’s Story

For as long as I have remembered I have been passionate about everything outdoors.
My family and I moved to Australia when I was about 2 and I began swimming as early as I could. By 6, I was already swimming competitively and loving every minute of it. As I started to get a little older, the training workload increased significantly. Competitions were more frequent, and I soon realised I wasn’t as invincible as I once thought. At my peak, I placed 3rd at state championships and my team won the medley relay. After that day I knew that this was something I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. I began to build my life around training and made so many friendships that I will cherish forever. But, as time went on, it became clear to me that my body was being pushed to it’s limits.
Through this, I developed a few injuries that caused setbacks along the way. My hip pain in particular led me to seek answers from multiple physios and osteopaths.
Throughout this process, I began to understand more about the allied health industry, sparking a passion for physiotherapy and helping people. When I was in my last few years of school, juggling swimming, injuries and study became overbearing. As my friends continued to excel, I fell further and further behind. It became clear to me that something had to give, and unfortunately it was my love for swimming.
When it came time to enrol in university, I chose to enrol in physiotherapy as I wanted to help people in the same ways that they helped me. Throughout my studies I have been fortunate enough to learn many aspects of the physiotherapy industry but yet to gain much experience. When my friend Connor informed me that there was an available position at Front Desk at Gold Coast Physio and Sports Health I jumped at the opportunity. Assisting people throughout their journey at the clinic will help me gain valuable experience in the allied health industry and bring me one step closer to my dreams.
