Ash’s Story
I grew up in Darwin, NT with my two brothers and parents. Some of my best memories are from visiting extended family in Adelaide at Christmas—playing in Nan and Pop’s backyard before coming together for big family meals.
Mum stayed at home with us when we were young before later working in a primary school, while Dad built a career in the marine industry and went on to run his own boating business. Both are hardworking, humble, and family-centred people, and—along with my Nanna—had a strong influence on me growing up.
In high school I played representative netball and touch football, and got to experience the training demands of NTIS. While that pathway wasn’t for me, it shaped my interest in movement and performance. At 19, I moved to Perth, where I worked in project management across health facility planning, construction, and mining before deciding to pursue my goal of becoming a physio.
After an initial setback applying in Year 12, I committed to the process—completing 18 months of sport science before gaining entry into physiotherapy. I began my degree in Perth and completed it on the Gold Coast after moving to be closer to friends and family.
While studying, I worked as a massage therapist and briefly ran my own small business before transitioning into clinic-based work. This led me to Gold Coast Physio and Sports Health, where I started as a massage therapist and later transitioned into a physiotherapy role after graduating. Bringing this goal to life has been one of my greatest achievements.
I enjoy staying active and have dabbled in triathlon (including completing the 70.3 Ironman Busselton in 2016), as well as trail running and functional training events. These days, I value variety—whether it’s running, strength training, or getting outdoors—and how movement supports my physical and mental wellbeing.
I’m passionate about helping people move well and feel their best. I am available to support you and your health at the Ashmore Clinic 😊
