Kyle has a real passion for working with runners as well as all endurance athletes. As someone who competes in these sports himself, he has an understanding of what athletes are going through when suffering from an injury, and how important running and keep fit and healthy is.  He can help you with planning a return to run program after injury or a break, and can help advise you on cross-training and alternative fitness activities appropriate for you.

Kyle has a good eye for running technique and can screen you individually as a runner to help you perform and reduce your risk of injury (see more about Sports Screenings here)  He can review your running in clinic, or help you learn the skill of trail running each week as he leads both the Monday and Wednesday Run@mygcphysio runs in Nerang State Forest (read more about Run@mygcphysio here).  Kyle is available at our Ashmore Clinic location or through the Run Group.

Kyle’s Story

Kyle guiding a Nerang Forest Run

I was born in Ipswich and spent my first 9 years there before I moved to the Gold Coast with my Mum and younger brother. We’ve always been a very sporty family with both my parents being heavily involved in numerous sports.  After moving to the Gold Coast in 2004, I began playing rugby league, which I continued up until I finished school.

The last few years of high school was when I met Caitlin and she is definitely to blame for my current running adventures after persuading me into doing the 48km Kokoda Challenge when we were in our last year of school. After that I was hooked.

Around a year after I started running, at the age of 19, I thought it’d be a great idea to sign up for a 100km race because “Well, I only have to jog. It can’t be that hard”. Well that day I found out just how hard it is but I managed to get four Australian Under 20 records so it was all worth it.  I also managed to add another Australian age group record to that and to date I’ve completed 21 ultra marathons and amassed over 20000km of running (again, because why not).

During this time I started my study at Griffith University here on the Coast where I studied for 5 years. I was fortunate enough that Britt let me do my last placement at Gold Coast Physio & Sports Health and well, the rest if history!
