Gold Coast Physio & Sports Health’s Pilates & Masasge therapist Katie Harders teaches pre and post-natal mat and fitness (reformers and other equipment) Pilates. This popular and exciting class allows pregnant mums and post-natal mums to safely exercise in a small group, with specific exercises for any stage of your pre and post-natal journey.

These classes will assist pregnant mums to prepare their body for the physiological changes during their pregnancy, keep the body strong for the labor process, and help mums re-gain and strengthen their body and pelvic floor muscles from the inside out post-partum.

The added benefit is getting time to focus on yourself with like-minded people in a supportive environment.

 When can you start pre and post-natal Pilates?

  • If you have done Pilates prior to becoming pregnant you can join at any stage. If not, to keep you safe a doctor’s clearance will be required before commencing.
  • Natural delivery – 6 weeks post birth with a doctors’ clearance.
  • Caesarian – 10 weeks post-delivery with a doctors’ clearance.

 What to bring:

  • Comfortable workout clothes, drink bottle and a towel.

Class Overview:

  • Evening mat class: perfect for Mums that are back at work, currently pregnant, are still at work pre-partum or for clients who need some quality “you time”.
  • Mums and Bubs mat class: bring your baby along to class and they can interact with the other babies while you do Pilates.
  • Mums and Bubs fitness Pilates class: use reformers and other equipment. You can bring your baby along to this class.
  • All classes take you through a progression of exercises designed to help and support you during your pregnancy and after delivery.
  • Modifications can be provided for all stages of pregnancy or if any injuries are present.
  • All classes involve the use of equipment such as fit balls, chi and weighted balls, light weights, Pilates rings, foam rollers and resistance bands.
  • Posture and breathing techniques are incorporated in to all classes.
